Welcome to Emme's Epic Endeavour for Extraordinary Kids... Take Two! #make2019extraordinary
Hello, I'm Emme and I'm 15 years old. I've been swimming my entire life and I'm ecstatic to be a participant in The BIG SWIM 2019.
Thanks to my spectacular kayaker, Scott, I successfully completed last year's BIG SWIM on August 12, 2018. It was the experience of a lifetime... 19.8 km in 6 hours and 37 minutes. Thanks to my generous donors, we raised over $3,000 to help send three extraordinary kids to camp.
On August 18, 2019, I will attempt to swim across the Northumberland Strait again. I chose to participate in this 15 km swim from New Brunswick to Prince Edward Island for two reasons:
First, I want to fundraise for an amazing charity, Brigadoon Village. Brigadoon Village is a camp that transforms the lives of Atlantic Canadian children, youth, and families living with a chronic illness, chronic condition, or special need. Their vision is, "Giving extraordinary kids a chance to be ordinary." My goal is to raise $4,000 so that I can help three children experience this life-changing camp.
Second, I want to challenge myself and inspire other girls. Girls have grit and can do incredible things!
