Dayle's Big SWIM
Our Mission: Brigadoon Village passionately transforms the lives of Atlantic Canadian children and youth living with health conditions and other life challenges to help them reach their full potential through experiential learning, meaningful connections and exceptional fun.
Our Vision: Giving extraordinary kids the chance to be ordinary.
Those of you who know me know that Brigadoon holds a special place in my heart. It’s where I had the opportunity to contribute to something so important, and it’s how I met Dave. And having become friends with Dave is something I consider one of the greatest gifts of my life. I miss him terribly.
Brigadoon is also a gift to so many people. It truly changes lives for the better. Hundreds and hundreds to date and countless more in the future. So, I wanted to do something to help. Something that allows me to challenge myself while making a difference. Enter: The Big Swim!
The Big Swim is a fundraiser held every August in support of Brigadoon. Participants raise funds and swim across the Northumberland Strait...from NB to PEI. If you know me you may also know the following challenges I will be facing:
- I’m scared of sharks
- I get motion sickness so the open water waves might not feel too great.
-I’m also afraid of open water (see above: sharks)
-oh yeah, I don’t know how to swim. Yet.
These are certainly challenges to overcome but guess what? I can do hard things.
Please consider making a donation that helps kids and youth who face challenges and do hard things daily!
